The Exiteers enables Pickstock to secure £4.7m investment for new Borders meat plant

Funding from South of Scotland Enterprise backs the future of British beef production at Pickstock’s new £24m Ecclefechan facility.

Edinburgh, Scotland - September 2026

SELKIRK, Scotland – The Exiteers has confirmed its role in supporting and helping Pickstock Telford secure £4.7 million in investment from South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE), backing the firm’s new beef processing plant near Ecclefechan, part of a wider project worth more than £24 million.

Work is now under way on site, with representatives from Pickstock, SOSE and the local council marking the start of construction in September. The funding underpins a project built around modern food production, renewable energy, skilled employment and long-term support for the Scottish rural economy, with the facility due to be fully up and running by early 2029.

Once complete, the development is expected to support around 90 permanent jobs alongside close to 40 apprenticeships and roughly 250 roles during the build itself.

For The Exiteers, the project is a clear example of what the business set out to do: help ambitious companies access the funding they need to invest in rural Scotland. Supporting Pickstock through this process reflects a wider commitment to backing development that create lasting jobs, strengthen local supply chains and deliver real economic benefit to communities across the south of Scotland.

The new plant will bring Pickstock closer to its Scottish beef supply chain, strengthening relationships with local farmers and keeping more value from the region’s beef production within the rural economy itself. Training and career development will also be a central part of the site, with a strong focus on apprenticeships and long-term employment for the local area.

Sustainability has been designed into the facility from the outset, incorporating renewable energy generation and measures aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the wider supply chain.
