Founded by Phil Morris and Peter Wright, The Exiteers is a Scottish business consultancy and investment firm built around one fundamental belief: enabling business evolution.

Phil and Peter bring decades of first-hand experience of building, scaling, investing in and exiting businesses. Phil founded and grew global sportswear brand Kukri to more than £30m in annual sales and 200+ employees across 10 countries before his exit to JD Sports Fashion PLC in 2015. He has since led major business turnarounds, investments and exits including GB Technologies, Thorburn Group, Border Embroideries and William Lockie.

Peter spent 25 years building Dalkeith Transport into a national, multi-depot logistics business with £15m in revenues and 150 employees, before his exit in 2015. Since then, Peter has held a range of Non-Executive and consultancy roles across the renewables, logistics and agricultural sectors, including with 3R Group and William Waugh (Edinburgh) Ltd. His work has spanned business strategy, financial planning and forecasting, raising finance, cashflow management, operational performance and protecting profit margins, alongside supporting owners and management teams through periods of growth, change and transition.

Building on this experience, Phil and Peter founded The Exiteers in 2024 to address a gap they had seen repeatedly throughout their careers: ambitious business owners with the opportunity to grow, but without the investment, experience or hands-on commercial support to take their businesses to the next level.

Scotland is good at starting businesses. The challenge is scaling them. Many promising SMEs reach a point where they have the ambition and opportunity to grow, but need investment, experience and hands-on commercial support before they are ready for traditional PE, VC or larger-scale investment.

Today, The Exiteers works alongside ambitious business owners at every stage of their journey, providing consultancy, investment and hands-on commercial support, while helping businesses navigate growth, investment, exits, VIMBOs and VIMBIs. Our experience includes delivering major business transformation and investment projects, including securing a £4.7m SOSE grant for one of our clients — the largest ever awarded to a private company by SOSE.

We work alongside owners to give them the tools, experience, commercial expertise and backing they need to overcome challenges, build stronger businesses and unlock their potential; whether that means scaling, raising finance, acquiring another business, preparing for investment or planning an exit.
